Who We Are Playing For

Banks and Den Boer Family

Before sharing their story, Sherry Banks and Chris Den Boer would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all who play and support the Booze Bag/Stella Salaris Memorial for offering to provide some assistance to them. The generosity and support mean a great deal to them during this challenging time and it will help ease some of the burden for Sherry and the family during her ongoing medical journey.

Sherry and Chris have 7 children with the two youngest still residing at home, and are blessed with 7 grandchildren. Family is at the heart of their life and they enjoy spending every moment they can with them.

In August of 2025 Sherry was diagnosed with metastic gastric cancer. Shortly after the diagnosis she underwent major surgery to remove a tumour that was blocking her stomach. After surgery Sherry endured a rigorous regimen of immunotherapy and chemotherapy every 3 weeks. Her treatments are ongoing and are administered in London.

Sherry's treatments while life saving are physically and emotionally draining. Recovery from each session often leaves her weak and bedridden for up to a week requiring support from family and friends to complete everyday activities. Additionally, the treatments have impacted her hearing causing the need for hearing aids. Many of the costs associated with her medical needs fall outside of her benefit coverage. Sherry has had to step away from work due to the intensity of her treatments and time needed for recovery. Travel, hospital stays, and ongoing medical needs have added a financial burden to their lives.

Despite these challenges Sherry remains resilient and her spirit strong. The Booze Bag donation will help Sherry and her family navigate these difficult times and ease the financial stress felt by the family. The support will further allow Sherry to focus more intently on her treatments, health and family.

Thank you from,

The Banks and Den Boer Family

Linda Dubuque and Family

Linda, Joe and family would like to share their heartfelt gratitude to all who play and participate in the Booze Bag/Stella Salaris Memorial golf tournament and are honoured to be receiving a portion of the funds raised. Your generous donations are very much appreciated during this difficult time for Linda and her family. The donations will help with all the unexpected costs that have come and will come while Linda continues her battle with cancer.

In November 2025 the Dubuque family's life changed when Linda was diagnosed after a series of tests, surgery, and hospital stay with stage 3 squamous cell anal carcinoma. Following surgery and diagnosis Linda underwent six weeks of extensive and aggressive chemotherapy and radiation five days per week in London. The hour-long commute to London became unmanageable due to the pain and discomfort caused by the cancer and the subsequent treatments. In order to complete treatments more comfortably Linda stayed at a hotel affiliated with the hospital throughout this period adding to the financial burden.

Since completing treatment recovery has been slow, painful and extremely exhausting. The side effects of the treatment were difficult causing severe weight loss which required daily nursing care for one month.

Caring for others has always been Linda's passion and relying on others daily has been difficult. Linda was actively involved in the lives of her two children who have disabilities. She strives to ensure they live their best lives as independently as possible. The limitations in her physical health to be involved fully in their lives has been extremely challenging for Linda.

While the physical and emotional pains of cancer and treatment have taken their toll there is also a financial burden that has come with it. Transportation, hotel costs, dietary needs, medical supplies, recovery supplies and household expenses have added more stress to their lives.

Through the hardest moments Linda has shown incredible strength and courage. She has faced each challenge with a quiet resilience, never complaining and expressing deep gratitude for the unwavering support around her. Her family, friends, neighbours, co-workers, and the greater community have lifted her in ways that words can hardly express. They have truly helped carry her through this journey.

Thank you,

The Dubuque family

St. Joseph's Hospice & That Girls Got Moxie

  • We will also once again be supporting St. Joseph's Hospice (Sarnia) - https://www.stjosephshospice.ca/ by donating meals for all residents for one week.
  • New this year, we will also be providing a donation That Girl's Got Moxie - https://www.thatgirlsgotmoxie.org/ a local nonprofit organization that walks alongside those in our community who are facing the challenges of cancer treatment. They want every person to know that they are not alone — they have support behind them. They provide direct support to patients and their families, often in the form of monetary assistance, gift cards, and other practical help. Their goal is to ease some of the burdens they face, allowing them to focus on what matters most — their health and their loved ones.

Thank you for allowing us to support these amazing people and causes this year.
